Bobby was born January 23, 1941 in Lansing, Tennessee to Harlin and Mayme Garrett. The family relocated to Baker, Oregon when he was a small child and he remained in the area for the rest of his life. Bobby was a hard worker from an early age. He started delivering newspapers for the Democrat Herald when he was 12 years old, joined the National Guard when he was 17 and then the Navy when he was 18, being honorably discharged from both after serving.

Bobby worked as one of the very first ice road truckers in Alaska and co-owned two logging outfits in Baker City with his brothers: Poor Boy Logging and Garrett Investments. He also spent some time working in Africa with his brothers Ray and John as an equipment operator before retiring from the Local 302 Union of Operating Engineers.

Bobby was a kind and loving man who was always happy to see you and invite you to a seat at his table. He had a great love for the outdoors and particularly enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed spending time, barbequing and playing poker with his many friends and family at home in Baker City and in his winter home of the last few years in Cienega Springs, Arizona.

He was preceded in death by his parents Harlin and Mayme Garrett, brothers Ray, Clifford, Jack and Jim Garrett; sisters Euna Faye and husband Henry McAdams, Lenny Rasmussen and Debi Garrett.

He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Kate, his sons Brandon and Tyree Garrett of Oregon, Shawn Garrett and fiancé Susie Heater of West Virginia, daughters Helena Jones and Nicole Peters of West Virginia, grandchildren TJ and Rosemary Garrett of Idaho, Autumn Garrett of Oregon, Elizabeth and husband Brendon and daughter Hadley Creel of Ohio, Jessie and Tiffany Wagenheim of Ohio, and JD and Stephanie Peters of Pennsylvania, brothers John and wife Marge of Idaho, Ken and wife Arlene of Lake Havasu, Arizona, sisters Thelma Elliott of Colorado, Amber Emery and husband Doug of Washington, sisters-in-law Mary Anne and Jean Garrett, brother-in-law Pat Rasmussen, several great grandchildren, and many, many nieces and nephews.
