Wanda Steele, 85, died on June 9, 2024 at St. Alphonsus Medical Center in Nampa, Idaho. A family gathering will be held at a later date, she will be interred with her husband Bill at Pine Haven Cemetery in Halfway, Oregon.
Wanda Jean was born on August 14, 1938 in Halfway, Oregon to Vernon and Christine (Gover) Tyler. She was raised in Halfway and married her Senior year of high school to Bill Steele. Bill married Wanda on November 21, 1956 in Halfway. (They had met and were neighbors on Boulder Flat, an area just outside of Halfway) They had two children Ray and Alan.
Wanda enjoyed being around people, she worked at the Halfway Market from opening day until her retirement. She enjoyed yard work, being at home and spending time with her two labs Dixie and Duke.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Bill Steele (2017).
Wanda is survived by her sons Ray Steele and his wife Linda of the Tri-Cities; Alan Steele of Halfway, Oregon; brother Wayne Tyler and his wife Louise; sister Charlene Peterson of Baker City, Oregon; grandchildren; Russell, Chrissy (Sam), Billy, Charlie (Erica) and George (Sharlene); several nieces and nephews.
