Virginia Helen Rasmussen

June 03, 1938 - January 28, 2023

Virginia Helen Rasmussen of Richland, Oregon died January 28th, 2023 at Saint Alphonsus  Hospital in Baker City after a short illness. She was 84. Lovingly known as “Aunt Ginny” or  “AG”, she was a lifelong devoted Catholic.

Virginia was born on June 3rd, 1938 in Mower, Minnesota to Walter George Speeter and Helen  Delia Speeter. She had 5 siblings.

She spent most of her young life in Carnelian Bay, Lake Tahoe where she graduated from Tahoe  Truckee High School, skied, played sports, swam in the lake and enjoyed the beauty of the  Sierras. She moved to Sacramento to attend business school and had a successful career in  banking followed by working for the forest service until she retired. She was married to Stanley  Richard Rasmussen in Tahoe City in 1958 until his passing in 1991. Oregon was Virginia’s  home for most of her adult life. Residing in Sisters until moving to Richland, which became her  home and where her friends became her extended family.

Virginia was a beloved aunt who earnestly accepted the role of mother figure to her niece Leslie  wholeheartedly and was cherished in return. She loved animals, reading, attending church,  taking part in her book club and doing puzzles. Watching the deer come into her yard and  taking in the view of the mountains from her home gave her peace. Traveling was also a passion  with Hawaii being one of her favorite spots.

She is survived by her devoted niece, Leslie Costalin of Sacramento, CA; brother and sister-in law, George and Jesse Speeter of Silver Springs, NV; nieces & nephews, Chelsea Speeter, Garrett  Speeter, Ivan Cole, Aaron Cole and Russell Eighmy.
