George “Tom” Turner 73, of Baker City, died Thursday, December 14, 2023 at his home surrounded by family.
Tom Turner was born September 16, 1950 in Baker City, OR where he was raised and educated. Following high school Tom joined the United States Army and served in Vietnam until he was honorably discharged.
He spent some time living in Pendleton and Portland. February 14, 2000, Tom married Barbara Larkins.
Tom worked most of his life as a Farmer for Wards Ranch. His favorite seasons were fishing and growing season.
Tom enjoyed doing crafts, being outdoors, and dogs. He loved all dogs. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends. He was lovingly called, “grumpy”. A favorite thought he liked to say was, “Not my circus, not my monkeys”.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents Helen and Ezra Turner; sisters Jane Estes, Linda DelaCruze, LouAnn Smith and nephews.
He is survived by his wife Barbara Tuner of Baker City, OR; sons Nick Turner; step-sons Doug, David, and Donnavin Zemmer; brother Michael Obershaw; sister Lana Millman; grandchildren Zeke, Zach, Micheal, Ally, Hailey, Karsen, Kylie, Mayla Zemmer and Tre’ Parker; great grandchildren Etnie Croy; numerous nieces and nephews; fur babies Peanut and Cinnamon.
