Sim Bennett Oldham Jr. “Buddy”, 66, of La Grande, OR passed away Monday, December 4, 2023 at home with his family by his side.
Sim was born February 5th, 1957 to parents Maurice and Irene Melvin in Memphis, Tennessee. He was raised and educated in Cahokia, Illinois. Following high school, Sim joined the United States Marine Corps, this was his proudest accomplishment.
Sim married Patricia Zarzeck and together they had 3 children. He was a caring father who loved his children unconditionally.
Sim’s favorite color was red, and he enjoyed all 4 seasons and all of nature’s beauty. He especially loved his fur baby’s Kaiser and Rudy.
Sim’s life philosophy was “take it easy” and “there are 2 things you can’t be lazy about; cooking and the outdoors”. He will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, meteorology, good food and above all the love for his family, they were the passions of his life.
Sim was preceded in death by his parents Maurice and Irene Melvin; grandparents Gertrude Welch and William Anderson.
He is survived by his children Danielle, Travis, and Tyler Oldham all of LaGrande, OR; brothers Robert, Johnny, and William Oldham; sisters Kristi Kassing, Debbie Rayfield, and Melissa Rodgers.
