Ronald Johnson died on May 30, 2026 at St. Alphonsus Medical Center in Boise, ID. A gathering/celebration of life will be held at a later date, time and place to be announced.
Ronald (Ron) Earle Johnson was born on November 20, 1934 in Portland, OR to parents Elizabeth and Harold Johnson. He was raised in Portland and graduated from Portland University in 1953. He then joined the Air National Guard and was honorably discharged in 1961.
Ron met Joyce at her high school graduation party in Drain. They were married in 1955.
He worked for Pacific Northwest Bell from 1955-1975. He also worked at KBKR from 1957-1978. He was a member of the Baker County Sheriff Pose, Baker Rural Fire Dept., and the Powder River Sportsman Club.
Ron was an avid outdoorsman. His favorite season was hunting season. He loved to fish and had the ability to fix or repair anything. His life philosophy was to “keep active”. He would often say, “There is no time like the present”.
Ron was preceded in death by his son Douglas Johnson; granddaughter Amber White Ryan; son in law Walt Abel; parents Elizabeth and Harold Johnson; brother Charles Johnson.
Ron is survived by his wife Joyce Johnson; daughters Cheryl Abel, Deanna (Ed) Strieper; 10 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; his beloved dog GiGi.
