Perry Yowell, known to his friends at “PT”, passed away on August 11, 2018 at the age of 89. A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held on September 23 at 1:00 at Pine Haven Cemetery in Halfway, Oregon. Friends are invited to join the family for a reception to be held immediately following at the VFW Hall in Halfway.
Born in Baker, Oregon, the son of a gold miner, Perry grew up in Halfway and entered the merchant marines at age 16. He later served in both the Navy and Army as a helicopter pilot. Perry spent the better part of four decades in the military and was a veteran of WWII, Korea and Vietnam. He retired as Chief Warrant Officer in 1974 with 20 air medals, among other awards.
Perry enjoyed playing guitar, building kit cars, fishing and tinkering with just about anything.
He is survived by his daughter Pamela Allen, step children Robert Keller, Michael Keller and Valorie Mast, grandchildren John, Ben and Caitlin Odom, and sister Veva Jefferson.
He is preceded in death by his son Perry Yowell, brother Gayle Yowell, and sister Charlotte Peterson.
