Mickie Fjeld Obituary

Mickie Fjeld, 74, of Halfway, Oregon, died on Monday, September 22, 2025 at St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, Idaho passed away surrounded by love and family.  Per her request there will not be a service.  She leaves behind a legacy of grit, laughter, and community that touched the lives of all who knew her.

Mickie Helen was born on March 7, 1951, in Grants Pass, Oregon to Bill and Dorothy (Wright) Bird. Mickie grew up in Halfway, Oregon, where her deep connection to the land, horses, and the western way of life first took root. Over the years, she also lived in the Tri-Cities, Washington, before eventually returning home to Halfway, where she spent the remainder of her life.

Mickie had an undeniable passion for team roping, a sport where her competitive spirit and love for horses truly shone. She competed successfully for decades, earning numerous buckles, saddles, and titles. Beyond the arena, she shared her love of the sport as the founder and writer of the Northwest Ropers News, connecting ropers across the region with her words and stories.

Her accomplishments, however, were only part of who she was. Mickie was known for her warmth, her determination, and the genuine friendships she cultivated everywhere she went. Her life was rich with connection, laughter, and the thrill of the roping pen.

Mickie’s family and friends will forever remember her strong spirit, her cowboy heart, and her unwavering love for those closest to her. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Dorothy and Bill.

Mickie is survived by her devoted boyfriend, Stewart; children Terri and Shane; cherished grandchildren Lindsay, Tyler, Jacob, and Emma; treasured great-grandchildren Kelson, Jaxsen, Asher, Everly, and Rex; brothers Wayne and Jay; countless friends who became family through the years.
