Michael Whitmore

Michael J. Whitmore, 79, of La Grande, Oregon died at his home, March 24, 2026 with his family at his side. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, April 10, 2026 - 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church (1702 Sixth Street) in La Grande, Oregon.

Mike was born on January 18, 1947 to Robert and Patricia (Bittle) Whitmore in Enterprise Oregon. He was raised in Enterprise and graduated from Enterprise High School in 1965.

After high school he pursued being an electrician through Blue Mt Community College. He worked at York Electric in Baker City, later working at the University of Oregon and Eastern Oregon University.

While working in Baker City, he met Cynthia (Cindy) Michel and they were married in May 1973.

Mike shared that he would like to be remembered as "a man of my word" and "being a good grandpa."  His highest goal was to know God better and to be pleasing to Him.

He enjoyed riding bikes and going on long bike rides with friends. He enjoyed restoring old radios and building a Lionel train layout in retirement.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Cindy; daughters Trista Baker of Twin Falls, Idaho, and Valerie and Travis Taylor of Newberg, Oregon; son Aaron and Diane Whitmore of Cove Oregon. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and 2 siblings.
