Mark Wyatt

Mark Wyatt, 70, of San Diego passed away on Saturday March 19, 2022 aboard his sailboat at a local marina.  A Celebration of life will be held Saturday, May 14~ 2 p.m. at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Baker City, OR. Mark was born in Omaha, NE on July 26, 1951 to Jacob “Jake” and Margaret “Ann” Wyatt (Miller). He attended Boise High School in Boise, ID where he was one of 4 merit scholars. Mark had his sights on attending Columbia University but settled on Whitman College in Walla Walla, WA. He graduated in 1973 with a BS in Chemistry.

Mark enjoyed backpacking, mountaineering, skiing and of course sailing. He crewed various racing sailboats in the San Diego area. He was a licensed surveyor for the California Department of Transportation for about 20 years as well as various counties in the Pacific Northwest and private engineering firms. He learned to survey while working various temporary positions for the Forest Service in Oregon, Washington and Alaska. Mark spent some time living in Wenatchee, Walla Walla and Seattle, WA.

He loved to spend his free time sailing, camping and jeeping throughout the West. He belonged to a 4x4 club in Southern CA as well as the Point Loma Yacht Club. He was an officer at the yacht club in 2018.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his sister Jill Wyatt in Baker City, Oregon and his brother Scott Wyatt in Anchorage, Alaska.

A Celebration of Life Service will be combined with his mother’s service (Margaret “Ann” Wyatt) and will be held at St Stephan’s Episcopal Church in Baker City, Oregon May 14th at 2 pm. The service will be streamed via zoom.
