Margaret Jane Hammar Mart was born 16 April 1938 in Mountain Lake, Minnesota, to Dr.Lawrence and Mary Hammar. She passed away February 14, 2025 in Halfway, Oregon.
At the age of 11, she suffered from polio and lost the ability to walk without braces and crutches but nevertheless led a full and active life.

Margaret graduated from Mankato, Minnesota High School and received bachelor's and master's degrees in speech therapy from the University of Iowa. She worked as a speech pathologist for
many years in California and Hawaii. She married Larry Martin in 1958 and they were later divorced.

She loved gardening and was always surrounded by flowers, both indoors and out. Margaret was a voracious reader, mostly current fiction.

She was preceded in death by her son Roger.

Survivors include her granddaughter Amanda and her brothers Eric and Michael.   A celebration of her life will take place this summer.  Online condolences may be shared at www.tamispinevalleyfuneralhome.com
