Lynn Carpenter Obituary

Lynn Carpenter, 75, of Halfway, Oregon died on October 3, 2023 at the Veteran’s Medical Center in Boise, Idaho.  A Celebration of Lynn’s Life and Memorial Service with military and fire department honor guard, will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2023 – 2:00 p.m. at the Halfway Lions Hall in Halfway, Oregon. A potluck reception will be held immediately following at the Halfway Lions Hall.

Lynn Dale Carpenter was born on February 14, 1948 in a farmhouse on 100-acre farm outside of Guthrie Center, Iowa.  His great grandmother helped to deliver him.  He attended Woodmere grade school, Marcus Whitman Grade School, Marshall High School and Portland Community College.

Lynn met his wife, Tami Moseley while fishing, at Copperfield Park during a Turkey Butt Camp out (of which her father Fred was a member) They were married on December 31, 1998 in Las Vegas, Nevada with her father, Fred, walking the bride down the aisle.

He worked various jobs in high school, but retired after 34 years from Safeway Stores at the distribution center.  Lynn enlisted with the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1969 stationed in Miesau, Germany and worked as a wheel mechanic.  He loved Germany and was able to see lots of places while there.

Although he only lived in Iowa when he was a baby, He always said Iowa was his hometown. He would watch any sport that the Hawkeyes played. He loved the Hawkeyes so much he got a tattoo of a Hawkeye and the word Iowa. His favorite sport was Soccer, He enjoyed watching the German teams.

Lynn shared his favorite colors were blue, green and clear.  His favorite season? Was Pepper and favorite flower “skunk cabbage.”  Memorable times in his life included when each of his children was born, his baptism and his marriage to Tami. And he said he would want to be most remembered for “being helpful.” Lynn was exactly that, he was a volunteer for the Eagle Valley Fire Department, Eagle Valley Ambulance Service and Baker County Search and Rescue.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Lynn is survived by his wife Tami of Halfway; daughters Jami of Milwaukee, Oregon; Sheri of Michigan; sons Erick of Milwaukee, Oregon and Joshua of Eugene, Oregon; 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
