With family at her bedside Laurie passed away at her home in Tucson on December 22, 2020. A Celebration of Laurie's Life will be held on Sunday, August 1, 2021 - 10:00 a.m. at the Gulick Ranch on Pine Town Lane in Halfway, Oregon
Laurie Ellen Gulick was born October 16, 1974 in Baker, Oregon. The third-born daughter of Stan and Frances Gulick, Laurie joined older sisters Elizabeth and Jennifer on the family ranch in Pine Valley. There, all three girls enjoyed a childhood of horseback riding, swimming in Pine Creek and exploring the acres around them.
School days passed seeing Laurie a successful and popular student and athlete. After high school Laurie attended Clackamas Community College, Southern Oregon University and Boise State University where she studied horticulture.
After student days Laurie moved to McCall, Idaho where her favorite job was as a whitewater river guide on the Salmon River. It was there she met and married Michael Boomer. Eventually the couple relocated to Reno, Nevada. After the marriage ended in divorce Laurie joined older sister Liz in Tucson, Arizona. There she worked for Goodwill Industries of Southern Arizona as a special projects coordinator and new goods buyer. The job occasionally required travel to various major cities to attend trade shows, an assignment she greatly enjoyed. In Tucson Laurie met Tommy Ficklin who became her true life partner. They enjoyed hiking, attending sporting events, pampering their three dogs and spending time with Tommy’s two daughters, who lovingly called Laurie their Bonus Mom.
Laurie’s bright smile, sharp wit and very kind heart will be remembered by her loving and extended family and by her many friends. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Alpha 1 Antitrypsin Deficiency Foundation or the ASPCA.
