June Morse Obituary

June Elaine Morse passed away peacefully on June 20, 2022, in Baker City, Oregon with her family by her side at the age of 91.

She was born in Los Angeles, California to Frank Reid Mosher and Clara Matilda Biller on March 13, 1931.   She grew up in the Valley in Southern California, graced the beaches of SoCal with her girlfriends in their Bel Aire convertible and graduated from Van Nuys High School. She used to say, she was the “original” valley girl.

June met and married Robert Morse and moved to Gold Hill, Oregon in 1964, where they ranched on 40 acres in the mountains and raised their 5 kids. She was well loved in the small community and made many great friends.  June loved to garden, cook and spend time outdoors hunting and fishing.

When she became single and had raised all her kids, she moved to Alaska where she spent several years cooking at a fish camp and exploring the wilderness. She eventually moved back to the lower 48 and returned to school, receiving her degree as a fish biologist. She worked several years for Idaho Fish and Game in the Salmon River area and McCall, Idaho spawning salmon and working in a fish hatchery.

After retiring, she spent 10 summers working in the National Park system, from Bar Harbor Maine, to Yellowstone, Glacier National Park, the Grand Canyon and Jackson Hole Wyoming, meeting and making lifelong friends along the way. She loved the mountains and the beautiful Oregon coast and spent many trips salmon fishing, crabbing, hunting for driftwood and traveling with her family. She was an amazing woman!

June is survived by her sister Jane Mancini and her children, Mike Morse (Bonnie), Melinda Morse Holland, Mitch Morse (Marta), Maria Sage (Nick) and Maureen Sue Binion (Jim) and her many grandchildren, Heather (Owen), David (Aja), Kim (Autumn) Ben (Sara), Kelly (Alec), Codiak (Amanda) and Reid and her great grandchildren, Olivia, Benson, Lane, Luna June, Amelia and Finn. She will be missed by many.

A celebration of life for June will be held next summer, 2023 in Oregon.  Donations in June’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation through Tami’s Pine Valley Funeral Home & Cremation Services PO Box 543 Halfway, Oregon 97834.  Online condolences may be shared at www.tamispinevalleyfuneralhome.com
