Joyce Stacey, 74, of Richland, Oregon, died at her home on Friday, May 2, 2025 with her husband of 55 years at her side.
Joyce Lorraine was born on August 23, 1950 to Willis and LaVerne (Clark) McCoy in Enterprise, Oregon.. She was raised and educated in Enterprise, Oregon until 1961 when the family moved to Milton Freewater. Joyce graduated from Mac High in 1969.
Joyce and Albert met at a club in Walla Walla, Washington in 1970. They were married in Reno, Nevada in 1972. Of this union, Joyce inherited 4 children from Albert’s previous marriage. They made their first home in Sacramento, California. Later they moved to La Grande, then to Drummond, Montana and finally settling down in Richland, Oregon.
During her life she worked in the canneries in Milton Freewater and Walla Walla. She enjoyed camping and traveling. Her favorite colors were pink and lavender, she loved poppies and lilies and especially enjoyed summers.
For quite some time she and Albert were a part of the Eagle Valley Riding Club.
Joyce will be remembered best in Albert’s eyes, as “being the boss.” When saying goodbye, it was common to hear “see ya later, alligator.”
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Gene McCoy, Nick McCoy and sister Lila McCoy; children Eldon Stacy and Melissa Selby.
Joyce is survived by her husband Albert, sons Richard Stacey of Oregon; Dan and Kelly Stacy of Woodland, Washington; John and Tina Stacy of Scappoose, Washington and 35 year old horse Pokey.
