Joyce Munson Obituary

Joyce Munson,88, of Baker City, passed away on April 23, 2024 with her family at her side.  A traditional graveside service will be held at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Baker City, OR~ Friday, May 3, 2024 at 2 p.m.

Joyce was born March 6, 1936 in Laneville, TX to parents William and Linnie Kirkpatrick.  She was raised in Porterville, CA, but lived many places throughout her life including Las Vegas, Nevada, Vernell, Utah, Washington, Missouri and Baker City, OR.

Joyce was introduced to her husband Leland Munson through friends. They were married December 2, 1973.

During her life, Joyce was a hard worker. She spent her working career as dental assistant, an EMT and owned her own floral shop. She was also a member of the Barn Theater in Porterville, CA where she starred in numerous plays.

Joyce loved all flowers and gardening. She was a huge Dodger and Royals Baseball fan as well as a Chief’s football fan.

Joyce enjoyed the outdoors where she spent her time hunting, fishing and camping. She also loved going to auctions, good music, dancing and the Lord.

Memorable accomplishments in her life were the births of her children, and her 50-year wedding anniversary.  She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, aunt and friend.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; son Daniel Norton; grandsons Jonathon Toomey, Jacob Kranzler, and great grandson Elijah Howard; sisters Lois Howell, Patricia and Peggy Kirkpatrick.

She is survived by her husband Leland Munson of Baker City, OR; daughters Doylene Norton; Deanne (George) Toomey, Lynna Harrison, Leah Goodale; sons Paul Dohrer, Rick Munson; brother William Kirkpatrick Jr.; sisters Donna (Roger) Delk, Leah Kirkpatrick, Diana McTier; 26 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
