Joseph W Cancilla Jr passed peacefully at his home in Eastern Oregon on October 10, 2024. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, 2 daughters and 1 son, in addition to his sister and many grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, his brothers-in-law and life-long loving friends.
Joe served in the Army as a tank driver and was at the Berlin Wall when President Kennedy was as assassinated. He was also injured in the Army and lived with constant pain for many years, and yet was very proud of his service to his country.
He was a leader in his industry in Portland and elected to serve as a board member on many industry and political committees, as well as being selected as Man of the Year in Oregon for his industry.
Joe was an avid hunter and enjoyed hunting and fishing in addition to raising dogs, horses and Koi in his pond. He especially enjoyed digging clams on the Oregon coast as his grandfather had taught him. His wife also believed he was the “best dancer around”.
He also was a kind, loving person who was always ready to open his home and give of his resources to those in need.
Joe will be buried at Willamette National Cemetery in Happy Valley, Oregon on November 8, 2024 - 10:00 a.m. - a reception will be held immediately following at the Spaghetti Factory in Clackamas.
