Jim Lyman Sr., 78, of Baker City, died peacefully in the comfort of his home Tuesday, February 13, 2024. There will be a rose ceremony in his honor at Pine Haven Cemetery in Halfway, Oregon on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at 1:00 pm, followed by a celebration of life from 2:30 -4:30 at the Baker Truck Coral, Baker City, OR( banquet room). Hors d'oeuvre will be provided. Beverages are available for purchase.
James Lyman Sr was born to Lawrence and Pauline (Lewis) Lyman on January 15, 1946, in West Chicago, Illinois.
He spent his early years working in scrap metal in Illinois before moving his family to Oregon to drive a semi-truck for Mack running the route from Portland to California. He then went to work in road construction on the west side of Oregon before moving his family to their final home in Baker City, OR. While in Baker he worked for the rendering plant, Mayflower Moving Company, Sharon Oil, and Hot Shot transporting RVs eventually becoming disabled putting his career to an end.
During his free time, he enjoyed camping and catfishing along the Snake River. If he wasn't home you would often find Jim at the Baker truck coral enjoying a cup of sugar and cream with a splash of coffee sharing the town news, driving around in his pickup truck with his beloved dog in tow, or doing what he loved best mowing lawns.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Evelyn Lyman, sisters Dori and Violet, brother Dave and daughter-in-law Elysa Lyman.
Jim is survived by his sister Donnie, brothers Ed, George, and Jim(Stevens), and by his children James (Sharise) Lyman of Marysville, WA, Dale Lyman of Baker City, OR, Mike (Ashley) Lyman of Richland, WA, and Debi (Mike) Riley of Las Vegas, NV, along with many nieces/nephews, grandkids and great grandkids.
