Jessica “Jessy” Naté Johnson passed away unexpectedly in Yuma, Colorado, on June 14, 2024, at the young age of 31. Her departure comes as a great shock and a deep wound, and it is gravely felt by her entire family, friends, and countless others who loved her deeply in her wide network of community. The family deeply appreciates your support during this difficult time.
A celebration of Jessica's life will be held at the Harvest Christian Church in Baker City, OR on August 24, 2024, at 11 a.m. with a reception following.
Jessica was born on May 3, 1993, in Baker City, Oregon, where she was raised and graduated from Baker High School in 2011.
Jessy was larger than life and very creative. She loved to take and edit pictures, make graphics for logos and clothing, repurpose furniture into her own style and had recently started drawing again. Her talent shined through in all that she created. She also loved to cook and was always excited to share the meals she felt were "spot on."
She shared a strong bond with her entire family and friends, but especially with her older brother, Joshua, who fondly referred to her as “Sissy” because “calling her Jessica is just weird,” he'd say. When younger, Jessy loved being with her big brother at all times, to the point she got him kicked out of pre-school because she would not leave his side! They were truly each other's first best friend.
An animal lover from a young age Jessica was blessed to have her cat, Babie, for a wonderful 17 years. Later she adopted the cutest little kitten and named her Gracie. They both gave her so much joy and most every conversation with Jessy would contain a story about one of them — whether they had made a mess she was not happy about having to clean up, or something silly they had done.
Jessica is survived by her parents, Julie (Rob) Ferdig and Clifford (Leanna) Johnson; brothers, Joshua Johnson (Michelle), Ryan (Kinzie) Hunt, Korbyn Johnson (Teyona); sisters, Allisyn (Alli) Ferdig, Arcadia (Aidan) Bair; nieces, Adalynn Johnson and Reyna Hunt; aunts, Charline (Jeron) Simmons, Beulah Harmon, Leta (Butch) Zweber, Sandy (Gene) Hansen, Breanna Dodge ; uncles, Charles (Eunice) Johnson, James (Sara) Johnson, Paul Hunt, Jess (Shannon) Hunt; grandparents, Winnie and Dale Dodge; cousins, Larry (Beth) Parker (kids and grandkid), Angel Johnson (kids), Sarah (Forrest) Yocum (kid), Jeremiah (Paula) Johnson (kids), Genevieve Johnson (kid), Meagan (Derek) Harlan (kids), Brian Johnson, Jesse Johnson, Faith (Laif) Edison (kids), Elijah Linscott, Michael (Katrina) Smith (kids), Christina Smith (kids), Aaron Hansen, Shawn (Monica) Hansen (kids), and Amber Hansen (kids).
