Jeff Reese Obituary

Jeffrey “Jeff” Reese, 52, of Baker City, died on November 30, 2022 at his home with his family at his side. A celebration of life will be held in the early summer, time and place to be announced.

Jeff was born in Lebanon, OR on January 2, 1970 to Floyd and Retha Reese.  He was the 1st baby born that year which made him the New Year’s baby.

Jeff was raised in Baker City.  In his youth he played Little League Baseball. He attended both Churchill and North Baker School until the family moved to LaGrande, OR. He then went to LaGrande High School graduating in the class of 1988.He was employed at the Mill and Bullet company for many years.

Jeff became reacquainted with Shannon Enter, a classmate with whom he went to La Grande High school with.  They became each other’s soulmate and lifelong partners.

Jeff was an outdoors kind of guy.  If he wasn’t at home, you could bet he was up in the mountains mushrooming, fishing, huckle berry picking, camping or taking a drive. He also enjoyed hunting with either a bow or rifle.

Jeff’s sister Jodi shared about when she and Jeff were little, their dad took them fishing. Jodi caught all the fish and Jeff wasn’t very happy that his little sister beat him at fishing; he was pretty competitive.

Jeff adored the color black and always requested black shirts to wear.  When picking out his attire for the day he would say, “I hope you didn’t pick out a teal-colored shirt, I want my black one”!

He loved plants and flowers, especially Roses because his mother loved them so very much.  Summertime was his favorite season. Jeff, Shannon, Tommy and Rogue the dog were always off and ready for an adventure.

His favorite saying was, “Watch out!” whenever he was coming through the door or just walking past you. Everyone would always get a chuckle out of it.

Jeff will be remembered for his unique ability to walk right up to a stranger, smile and start having a conversation. He made a lot of friends.  Once he got to know you, he would never forget a name no matter how long ago it was.  Jeff’s motto was “Don’t let yesterday use up too much of today”.

He was preceded death by his mother Retha Reese; several aunts and uncles including most recently his uncle Dell Francis.

Jeff is survived by his daughters Audrey and Ashley; son Austin; companion Shannon Enter; father Floyd Reese; sister Jodi Reese French and beloved Grandson Thomas Reese.
