Janet “Jan” Harding, 86, died on May 22, 2025 in Lewiston, Idaho.
Janet Darlene was born on May 19, 1939 to Ed and Opal Scheel in Portland, Oregon. She was raised in Sandy, Oregon, graduating from Sandy High School in 1957.
Jan married Lee Harding on May 10, 1958; they were married 52 years.
During her life she worked for the Municipal Government in Palm Springs, California; City of Portland; City of Gresham as a purchasing agent from 1990 to 2000 when she retired. After she retired to Pine Creek, Halfway, Oregon, she worked for the Old Pine Market and volunteered at Jacob’s Dream.
At the age of 52, Jan and her husband took full custody of their 5 grandchildren; Ann, Jenny, Jestin, Rosie & Becca. They gladly took on the roll of “Mom & Dad.”
Jan enjoyed flower arranging. A memorable time in her life she shared working for the Pittock Mansion in Portland, Oregon.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lee; parents Ed and Opal; brothers Roger, Edsel and Orv Scheel and Bill Bradley.
Jan is survived by her daughters Jill and husband Steve Moeller of Hillsboro, Oregon; sons Joe and Carol Harding of Sumpter, Oregon; David Harding and Ken Harding; twin sister Joyce Soberanes and husband John of Santa Maria, California; 11 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.
