James Wright

James Wright, 84, of Mount Vernon, passed away at his home on May 28th, 2026. 

James Delbert Wright was born on July 30, 1941 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.  He was raised in Tigard, OR and graduated from Tigard High School.

He was married to Carolyn Sue Wright for 38 years 

James worked as a timber faller for Kinzua in Kinzua, OR and Wheeler County.  He also worked for various logging contractors on the Oregon Coast, Prineville and Spray, OR.

James favorite season was fall.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing.  His life philosophy was “work hard and hunt and fish even harder!”  James would often say, “you know what I mean”. He loved animals, especially his Hound Dogs Buck & Jack, Cow Dog Maggie, Lap Dog Baby and his special cats.

Memorable dates in his life include the summer of 1976 Canada Ranch Vacation and 2014 Las Vegas trip with family. He will be remembered for his loyalty, handwork, taking care of family and as a very successful hunter and fisherman.

James was preceded in death by his wife Carolyn; parents Timothy and Gladys Wright; sister Lucille Schechla.

He is survived by his sons Mark Wright of Prineville, OR. and Jimmy Wright of Mt. Vernon, OR., Gus Houge of Vancouver, WA, and Jesse Wright of Eugene, OR ; daughters Sheri  Clarke , of Long Creek, OR., Cindy Bolin of Mt. Vernon, OR, and Lisa Houge  of Portland, OR.; sister Darlene Bertalot of Portland, OR.; 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
