James Lowe Obituary

James “Jim” Lowe, 94, was taken home  on September 9, 2025, surrounded by folks who loved him.

Jim was born July 6, 1931, in Gooding, Idaho, but spent the better part of his life in Baker and Union counties in northeastern Oregon — country he was proud to call home. He built his life there on a foundation of family, hard work, and perseverance.

A true man of country life, Jim made his living ranching and logging — two lines of work that fit him just right. Whether he was horseback pushing cattle or deep in the timber with a chainsaw in hand, Jim’s life showed what grit, gumption, and country know-how really look like.

Jim also had rodeo in his blood. Back in the day, he rode bulls and bareback horses and threw a mean rope. He never hesitated to lend a helping hand or to share what he knew with the next generation of cowboys.

Jim leaves behind his four kids, Ron Lowe, Vicki Lowe, Judy Tate, and Dan Lowe, along with five grandkids, nine great-grandkids, and one great-great-grandkid.

Folks will remember Jim for his witty sense of humor, stubborn determination, and the way he could fix just about anything with whatever he had on hand.

He was one of a kind and will be sorely missed.

A private family Interment was held at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Baker City, OR.  In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to either St. Jude Children's Hospital or Heart n' Home Hospice through Tami's Pine Valley Funeral Home & Cremation Services, PO Box 543, Halfway, OR 97834.
