Floyd Williams Obituary

Floyd Williams, 86, of Baker City, died on September 11, 2024 at his home surrounded by family. A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held on May 10, 2025 - 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Baker City, Oregon.

Floyd Lee Williams was born at home in Allen, South Dakota at the family ranch on May 10, 1938; his parents, Ralph and Cora Williams. Floyd grew up on the family ranch until he was 15, attending Green Valley School a single room school, for 8 years, then attended and graduated from Rapid City High School.

Floyd married Dorthy Patterson in 1961, together they had 3 wonderful children Jim, Bill and LaDonna. They divorced in 1972. Floyd married Connie L Koontz in 1973, blending their family to include Mike, Don and Gina. Together, they had a son, Paul, born in 1974. Floyd showed his love to all the children equally. Floyd and Connie have been happily married for 51 years.

Floyd served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1957 to 1960, on the aircraft carrier the USS Lexington and the USS Oriskany. Floyd worked in mills, jewelry store, odd jobs and then ranch work in Durkee and Keating Valleys for 20 years. Ranching was his life.                                                                                                                                Floyd enjoyed Gods creations, as well as his house of worship, hunting, fishing, working with horses, and cattle, and especially any time he was with his family.

Floyd remembers very fondly looking back at the early years spent on the ranch. Even the tough times are good if you don't fight them and learn from them. He would want to be remembered as trying to do a good day's work for a good day’s pay. His favorite bible verse "Trust in the Lord with all your heart." His favorite poem was the entirety of Psalms 91.

Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings Johnny, Margie, Cora (Lorraine), Laura, Pat and Patsy (twins) as well as his brother Loyd (Arnold).

Floyd is survived by his wife Connie; sisters, Deloris and Mary, and brothers Doug and Paul; 7 children; many grandchildren; great grandchildren; and great, great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Dr. Neil Carroll and the Heart and Home Hospice for the wonderful care they provided to Floyd.  Anyone wishing to make a contribution in memory of Floyd can do so through Heart and Home Hospice or Blue Mountain Baptist Church through Tami's Pine Valley Funeral Home & Cremation Services PO Box 543 Halfway, Oregon 97834.  Online condolences may be shared at www.tamispinevalleyfuneralhome.com
