Edward Allen Sprague
May 20, 1961 - August 20, 2023
Edward passed away at the age of 62 on Sunday, August 20th, of a heart attack after battling lung cancer.
He treasured life and held onto it with grit, grace, and joy. He preceded his wife Debra (Deb) and his father
LeRoy (Roy). He was survived by his mother Jeanne, his sister Debbie, his brother James (Jim), his son
Travis, nephews Jeremy, TJ, and James, and nieces Danielle and Jourdan.
Edward was known to his family as Ed. He loved fishing, hunting, and just overall anything that had to do
with the outdoors. Ed and Deb moved to Halfway Oregon with their son Travis several years ago as he
always loved the little town that he and his brother first learned to hunt. It was his dream to be a part of
such a family-oriented town. Living in Halfway, Ed was a caregiver for others in the community. It was
apparent to his family how much Ed was loved in return by the people of the town he loved so much.
“When my wife Stephanie and I went to take care of all the things that needed to be done
after his passing we got to meet several of Ed’s friends that he called family. Rose was one of
those people. Ed and her became dear friends. My brother Ed spoke highly of her and she
was the one who took care of him when he needed help. Our family will miss him more than
words can say.” - Jim
Ed had a heart of gold. Rose said, “He was a gentleman, a good neighbor, and my best friend. He is
missed.” Even during his last months he constantly thought of others. Jeanne recalls in one of their
last conversations him consoling her and that she should not worry about him, that he will finally get
to be with Deb forever.
The Deer Hunter’s Prayer
When I enter through the pearly gates
And come into your glory land,
Instead of the mansion you promised, Lord
How about just an ole tree stand?
