Donald Hewitt, 78, of Baker City, Oregon, died on September 5, 2023 at St. Alphonsus Regional Hospital in Boise, Idaho. A Graveside Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2023 – 11:00 a.m. at the Eagle Valley Cemetery. Friends are invited to join the family for a reception to be held immediately following the service at the Richland Christian Church.
Donald Hewitt was born (a twin) on August 28, 1945 in Baker City to Jim and Margie Hewitt. He was raised as a young boy in Richland, Oregon. The family moved to Baker City for his grade school years. Don went to McEwen High School and graduated in 1964. Don’s daughter Tracy and friend Jennifer (Sally’s daughter) took Don and Sally out to dinner for them to meet. Once they met, they never parted. Don married Sally Ann Stilwell on December 15, 2003. Don worked for Georgia-Pacific as a Foreman in Clatskanie from 1960 and retiring in 2002. He served several years with the National Guard.
Don enjoyed hunting, fishing, Bonsai trees and making various beautiful arts. His favorite color was blue. He loved watching College Football and cheering on the “Oregon Ducks”. Don believed in hard work and was nonjudgmental to friends. A favorite phrase he liked to say was “Grab the bull by the horns!!!”
He was preceded in death by his parents; his twin Ronald Hewitt; sister Kaylene Hewitt.
Don is survived by his wife Sally; daughter Tracy Hewitt of Portland, Oregon; son Barry Hewitt and his wife Michelle of Los Angeles, California; grandchildren (Tracy’s children) Israel Hewitt and Lucy Hewitt (Barry’s children) Kaius Hewitt and Thoren Hewitt; brother Jimmy Hewitt.
