Daryl Martinez Obituary

Daryl Dean Martinez, 54, of Baker City, died on August 28, 2024 at his home. A Celebration of Daryl's Life will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2024 - 11:00 a.m. at the Agape Christian Church on Highway 7 in Baker City, Oregon.  Friends are invited to join the family for a potluck to be held immediately following at the church.

Dean was born on November 16, 1969 in Baker City, OR.  He was raised in Baker and attended Baker High School.

He met Connie Ihrig through some friends. They were married November 17, 2006 by Pastor Garth.

Dean was a skilled laborer and a jack of all trades.  His specialty was woodworking which he did most of his life.

Dean’s favorite color was baby blue. He had a special bond with his spikey haired little dog “Koda” who was always by his side.

One of Dean’s favorite things to say was “That’s what ya get for doing your own thinking”.  His daughter shared, “Dean was a no holds kind of guy. He would call or show up just to tell his kids and grandkids he loved them, and of course, to share his gum!”

He lived by the philosophy to live everyday with nothing left unsaid. Good or bad and never ever go without saying “I love you!”

He was preceded in death by his parents Barbara Hull and Rudy Martinez.

Dean is survived by his wife Connie Martinez of Baker City, OR; children Jessica (Kevin) Owens, Melissa Ihrig, Robert Martinez; sisters Melody Webb and Tracy Williams; 7 grandchildren.
