Dan DuMont Obituary

Daniel Alan DuMont

Daniel “Danny” Alan DuMont, 65 years old, from Baker City, Oregon passed away peacefully on January 19th, 2024 following an unexpected illness in a Boise, Idaho hospital.

Dan was born May 12th, 1958 in Albany, Oregon.  He was the oldest of 4 children born to Wesley & Beverly DuMont.  Dan graduated from West Albany High School in 1977.  In his early years he developed a passion for the outdoors, cars and dogs - a man’s best friend.  These passions led him to pursue opportunities in these areas throughout his career, a career that took him from Oregon to Oklahoma and Texas.  Upon returning to Oregon, Dan moved to Bend before finally settling in the La Grande / Baker City area in 2000, which also allowed him to spend time in Halfway, Oregon at the family cabin.

Dan’s passion for cars led him to a long career in the “Car and Truck Parts Industry”.  If you had a question, or needed a part for a vehicle, Dan was your guy.  He combined his love of cars and trucks with his love to serve and assist people.  With the encouragement of friends and family, Dan started a company called “Triple-S Sauce Co”.   Created as a "Made in Oregon" Company offering a smokey-sweet & savory BBQ sauce, he turned Triple S into a part-time business, primarily sold in the far eastern Oregon area of the state.  One of Dan’s goals during his retirement years was to spend more time growing and developing the Triple S Business.  If you were lucky enough to have tasted the Triple S sauce, I think you would agree that it is a winner!

Dan is survived by his parents, Beverly & Wesley DuMont, brothers Jeff (Suzi) DuMont, Dave (Melanie) DuMont and sister Lori (Lynn) Bruno.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents; George & Ruth DuMont and Robert & LaDora Daly.

He will be remembered as a genuine, caring and “always” friendly & happy son, brother, uncle, cousin and brother-n-law.

A Celebration of Life will be held by the family at a later time.  Donations can be made in his honor to “Best Friends of Baker” Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to animal welfare in Baker City through Tami’s Pine Valley Funeral Home & Cremation Services PO Box 543 Halfway, Oregon 97834.  Online condolences may be shared at www.tamispinevalleyfuneralhome.com
