Cooper was the first graduate of Powder Pals , a cooperative program between New Hope for Eastern Oregon Animals and Oregon Dept of Corrections Powder River facility. The inmate dog training program provides rescue dogs a start in obedience and confidence training, allowing them to be more successful in rehoming.
Cooper was adopted in 2011 by Fred and Judy Stewart of Richland, and quickly became a favorite of the locals in the area. He was an excellent retriever and sporting dog, went to work with Fred, loved all kids and all dogs, and was a consistent loving companion. He passed away on May 24, 2022 at about 13 years old. He is greatly missed everyday.
In honor of Cooper, please consider adoption of a rescue animal for your next pet. Local agencies including New Hope for Eastern Oregon Animals and Best Friends of Baker have information on animal adoption.
