Colleen Anderson

Colleen Clough Anderson, 101 years young, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2026 with family by her side.A Graveside service with Military Honors will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery Baker City, Oregon on Friday June 26, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. PDT. There will also be a short internment for Colleen’s son Lee and daughter in-law Rene Fuge after Colleen's service. All are invited and welcome to stay for that. The Seventh-day Adventist Church in Baker City is hosting a dinner 12:30 p.m. PDT for Colleen. Please bring a salad or dessert and share some of your memories, stories and laughter just as Colleen would have wanted! 

Colleen was born in Baker City on August 8, 1924 to Walter Clough and Melsena Justus Clough. For most of her childhood Colleen lived in Eastern Oregon and grew up surrounded by her mother's side of family. Great memories were made in Rye Valley at her grandparents’ homestead. There was riding horses, killing rattle snakes, cooling off in the sandy creeks, running up and down the sagebrush hills, driving the hay wagons and just enjoying the wild frontier life with her family!

After graduating from high school Colleen was part of the first group of women from Oregon that enlisted in the Marine Corps Women’s Reserves during WW II.

She attended boot camp at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina and then transferred to Quantico, Virginia. Once in Virginia she "involuntarily volunteered" for the motor transport division which largely, consisted of hauling fellow Marines to battle practice. She later moved on to garbage detail and finally to the mess hall. Women Marines were not yet being deployed overseas during Colleens two years of service. Although she never left U.S. soil she would have "signed on" if it had been available!

After she was honorably discharged Colleen moved to Portland, Oregon. It was there she meant Fred "Roy" Fuge. They married and had three children, Regenia, Brian and Lee. They divorced after 21 years together. She later married Earl English and they were together for 19 years until his passing. While attending a class reunion Colleen reunited with an old classmate, Murl Anderson. They dated for a short time and then decided to marry. They were married 10 years before Murl passed away.

Colleen spent much of her adult life in Baker City raising her children and working at a verity of jobs including Holman Studio (photography), and the Baker Credit Bureau. She also spent countless weekends driving from Baker to Rye Valley to help her mother Melsena maintain the family property.

Colleen had always enjoyed styling hair so she decided to attend the beauty college in Boise. After graduating she returned to Baker and went to work in a friend’s beauty salon for a short time before she purchased and operated her salon named M'Lords & Ladies House of Beauty.

Colleen helped many people in the community by volunteering her time and energy when and where it was needed! She was an active member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and faith was a very important part of her life!

Colleen was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Melsena (Justus) Clough; sister and brother in-law, Beatrice and Ray Hedden, sons Brian and Lee Fuge and daughter in‑law Rene (Speed) Fuge, and son in-law Steven Valentine; husbands Fred "Roy" Fuge, Earl English and Murl Anderson.

She is survived by daughter Regenia (Fuge) Valentine; granddaughter Donna Valentine; grandson-in-law Carl Carpenter, grandsons Colby Valentine, Nicholas Lee Fuge, and Brian Scott Fuge; 12 great-grandkids and nine great-great-grandkids.
