Charlaine Annette was born, delivered by Doc Pollock, on May 5, 1940 to Charles and Glenna Smith in Halfway, Oregon. Char was raised in Halfway most of her life, but graduated from Kennewick High School in 1958.
Char married Frank Kamaunu and together they had two children Kalan and Konia. They divorced in 1963. Char met Ron Woollett in 1970 and they were married in 1983 and made their home in Halfway.
Char worked for her folks as she was growing up, but later as a US Bank teller in Halfway, Portland and in 1961 Honolulu.
She enjoyed knitting, working puzzles, mushroom and huckleberry picking, crossword puzzles, baking, canning kraut and dill pickles. She made the BEST peanut brittle. She grew a beautiful garden and grew beautiful roses. A life philosophy she would share was “Read the Bible.” And a favorite song was “I Like Beer” by Tom T. Hall.
