Bessie Iverson

Bessie Iverson passed away in Baker City, Oregon on June 16, 2026, at the age of seventy-five in Baker City, Oregon.

Bessie was born May 10, 1951, to Dude “Marion” and Helen Douglas in Pine Town, Oregon. She attended Pine Eagle High School, graduating in 1969. Bessie went on to Beautician College in Hermiston obtaining her license and eventually returning to Halfway where she operated a successful Salon for years.

Bessie had an early marriage which ended in divorce from which three children were born, Tausha Kirk, Misty Kirk, and Dustin Kirk, and later a son Kody Iverson. Bessie moved to Nevada where she met and married the love of her life Arthur Iverson on October 13, 1991. Later they lived in Idaho, Washington, Tennessee, and Colorado.

Bessie moved back to Halfway in 2019 to be closer to her roots. Bessie loved NASCAR especially Denny Hamlin, Grand Ole Opry, Downtown Nashville, bonfires, porch sitting, rodeo and any activity where she could connect with old friends and family. She also loved the chance to make new friends. Bessie never knew a stranger. Any time spent with Bessie was guaranteed to be fun and memorable for sure.

Bessie was preceded in death by her parents Dude and Helen Douglas, sister Debbie Douglas, brother Daniel Douglas, daughter Tausha Kirk, and beloved husband Arthur Iverson.

Survivors include daughter Misty Kirk, sons Dustin Kirk and Kody Iverson, 7 grandchildren, siblings Barbara Carey, Sharon Hubbart, Donna Coyle, Phyllis Gubser, Beverly Chadwick, and Allen Douglas; many nieces and nephews and her best friend Brian Simpson.

As per her request there will be no service.  The family will have a Celebration of Bessie’s Life (date, time place to be announced).
