Archibald "Archie" Hurley Obituary

Archibald "Archie" Hurley was born in Caldwell, Idaho in December of 2019, and peacefully ventured "over the hedge" in Baker City, Oregon July 7, 2023. For his very full three-and-a-half years, Archie lived the rock and roll lifestyle. Though he was rough around the edges, Archie was a kind and gentle soul, known by everyone who met him as "The best little dude ever." His charisma earned him plenty of attention from the ladies. However, though he made many instant friends, his heart always belonged to his lovely human, Megan Hurley.

He gained notoriety as a popular and very handsome hedgehog, making it into the Baker High School yearbook "Pets" Page with Megan for three consecutive years.

He was also known for his strong values  and dedication to following Jesus Christ as a devoted Catholic. He sang in the church choir and always had good choir posture.

Archie was also a huge Red Sox fan, and loved watching them crush the dirty Yankees year after year.

For his whole life, from the Christmas she got him, to when he passed, Megan and Archie would jam out in her room to punk and rock music on her dad's old record player, while she did art projects and he would work out on his wheel, being sure to get in his four miles a day. When they weren't doing that, he listened intently as Megan read him Harry Potter.

Archie and Megan went on many adventures together. Often they would hop into her yellow Nash Metropolitan and cruise off into the horizon, going wherever the road would take them.

He missed her dearly when she went away to college, but he gallantly kept her room safe, watching over and protecting her belongings from his cage until she came back.

When his cousin Sonic the Hedgehog called him asking for advice in 2021, Archie told him to "slow down, and go with the flow." Quoting Ferris Bueller, Archie told Sonic that "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around, you might miss it." To which Sonic would react with his jealousy and gratefulness towards the superior hedgehog's wisdom.

Archie lived by two philosophies: "Live on the hedge" and "don't be a prick." Archie is rocking on in the great beyond, spreading peace and love around hedgehog heaven.

Archie is survived by Megan and her family, Jade the Parrot, and cats Kevin "Kevvy Baby" Hurley, Charles "Chucky" Hurley, Chucky Jr., and Whiskers.
