Wanda Elmyra Mitchell, 90, formerly of Boise, Idaho died on Saturday, March 2, 2019 with her family at her side in Richland, Oregon. A Traditional Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2019~1:00 p.m. at Eagle Valley Cemetery. Friends are invited to join the family for a potluck reception to be held immediately following at the Richland Christian Church.
Wanda Elmyra (Hunter) Mitchell was born on September 18, 1928 in London, Texas to Marvin and Alma Hunter. Elmyra was raised in Bandera, Texas and was the oldest of 4 children. She married C.E. McAfee and they had 3 daughters (Wanda, Jacquelyn, and Margaret). They later divorced and she met and married John Mitchell. Elmyra went back to school and ultimately received her teaching degree in Elementary Education from Arizona State University, Tempe, AZ where she was Pi Lambda Theta. She taught 2nd and 3rd grades for Dysart School District in Arizona and was very proud of being named Teacher of the Year. Elmyra was fond of her friends and enjoyed playing Bingo in Eagle Valley.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husbands C.E. McAfee and John Mitchell.
Elmyra is survived by her siblings Jack Hunter, Dolores Ferrell, and Carly Sue Burdett. As well as daughters Wanda Holcomb, Jacquelyn (Meb) Dailey and Margaret (Don) Holaday. She leaves behind 10 grandchildren,16 great grandchildren,10 great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
