Rocket Morin Murphy

December 21, 2018

Rocket loved the water so much..he was an aqua dog.  He dove in the water for cans he found on the bottom and in later years fetched sticks from the water with his tail wagging and his eyes shining.

Life was not often kind to Rocket.   For his first two years he was starving and running loose in Union until a woman fed him and called animal control.  I don't know how long he was there, but eventually Aunt Robin Morin took him in and loved him so much.

When Robin died her husband sent him to the pound.   I had said I would take him, but if you knew Roger..

I am Sherry and I paid $200 to get him out.  Rocket knew me very well from previous times and he was so excited to get in the car.  We got his stomach straightened out and lost some weight, but his rear end was always weak.  He was never in too much pain to jump in the car and go swimming or shopping in La Grande with me and my other dogs

He learned to bark at cars and people her from my Dachshund Minnie and they were partners.  He has been here for about 3 years.  Rocky had a must watch me swim, so we did and threw sticks in for him and it helped his soreness.

We had no idea he would be taken from us until yesterday.  Best of all he got to see his best friend Aunt Tina on Wednesday and he played outside for her and sat by her side.

He lived with Patches the cat at Robins house who also came to live with us. Patches died a few months ago and he will go with Rocky and be taken care of by Tami and Stephanie in Halfway.

Rocket is already missed and the Dachshund Minnie has been sad all morning, as she has lost a best friend who went on trails with her and sat in the rear window above him when we went driving.  He was so loyal and loving like most Labrador dogs are.  We thank the Lord for the time he was with us and now our family is even smaller   I have never know true love until I got my pets and that is a truer loved than anything else.  They are really my children, but your heart breaks when you lose them, but we live in hope that we will see Rocky at the Rainbow Bridge.  Remember,  always be kind to your pet because they learn by your love and the return it 100 fold.
