Irene Carlile Obituary

Irene Carlile (Amundson) 80, of Baker City, Oregon went to Heaven on August 15, 2018 at Settler's Park Assisted Living, surrounded by her loving family. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday September 8, 2018 at noon at the home of Benny and Judy Ruda 18070 West Campbell in Baker City.

Irene was born November 22, 1937 in the village of Adrian Minnesota at 11:50 pm, to Eileen Yackley and Floyd Inman. She was raised by Eileen and Adrian Yackley in Luverne, Minnesota. In 1955 she married Marvin Amundson and together they had 7 children. Throughout her life she did Motel work, bartended, and worked in the potato fields.

Irene loved to take long drives in the country. Some of her favorite hobbies included crafting, listening to music, and reading. Irene loved her books! The staff at Settler’s Park said they loved finding Irene’s stash of books all over the facility. Irene also loved going to Church. One of her favorite past times was going to the Dollar Store in Boise Idaho, with her best friends Dave and Lynn.

Irene’s greatest accomplishments were her Grandkids, Great Grandkids, and Great Great Grandkids. She absolutely adored her Great Grandkids. They brought her pure joy. When she was holding one of them you could see the biggest smile on her face and that twinkle in her eye.

Due to illness she moved to Pendleton Oregon so she could be closer to her family. During this time she was able to spend quality time with her loved ones. In July she moved to Settler’s Park in Baker City, Oregon to spend the last month with more family. This time was very precious to her. She brought so much joy to others.

She was preceded in death by her parents Adrian and Eileen Yackley; sister Betty; brothers Gene & Richard;  2 Great Grandkids Conner Dykstra & Emily Richman.

Irene is survived by her children and their spouses Mary Parker, Peggy Simmons, Dean & Lynda Amundson, Duane & Michelle Amundson, Rena & Jon White, Judy & Benny Ruda, and Robert & Karen Amundson. Her siblings Chet Yackley, Pat Yackley, Adrian Yackley, Bruce Inman, Ila Strand, Kathy Nelson, and Beverly; 39 Grandkids; 37 Great Grandkids; 2 Great-Great Grandkids and one on the way.
