Gerald Gregory Obituary

On Wednesday, November 7, 2018, Gerald Lee Gregory of Baker City, Oregon, passed away from a heart attack.  Gerald was elk hunting with his son-in-law, when he experienced some chest discomfort. After a triple bypass surgery at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, Idaho, Gerald had two more heart attacks, the second one was fatal.  A Traditional Funeral Service will be held on Friday, November 16, 2018 at the Harvest Church (3720 Birch Street) in Baker City, Oregon at 1:00 p.m. Friends are invited to join the family for a reception to be held at the church immediately following the service.

Gerald grew up in Sweet Home, Oregon and developed a love of the outdoors.  He would have enjoyed living the life of a frontiersman, if only he had been born earlier in history.  Gerald was an Army Veteran, a woodworker, a gardener, a hunter, an artist, and a cowboy action shooter.  Before retiring, Gerald worked as a Civil Engineering Technician for the National Resource Conservation Service.

Some of Gerald's happiest years were spent in Eastern Oregon where he had a vegetable garden, a wood shop, and easy access to the wild outdoors.  One of Gerald's most loved hobbies was dressing as his alias , "Old Rawhider" and joining his Powder River friends for shooting competitions.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Della Gregory.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years Dorothy; son Brian; daughter Becky and son-in- law Bill Manix; brothers Gene and Ken.
