I want to share a short story about Duke. Our Duke dog did not belong to us his whole life. He was just a pup when my middle sister Ashley Hilderbrand bought him from a family in Central Oregon. She was a proud dog mom. She would ride around showing him off in the back of her pick up. All of her family and friends quickly fell for him as well. She moved back home to Baker from Prineville; not long after that she suffered from some type of heart attack that took her life at the young age of 22. We happily took the last living piece of my sister into our home. Duke was a perfect addition. We welcomed our one and only son Antonio into the world 3 months later. Antonio and Duke grew up together; so as you can imagine Duke has been like a brother to him. So with that back story we are guessing Duke was around 14 years old. Dukes two favorite things were playing fetch and swimming. Combining those two things made for one amazing day. Memories that were made will be cherished for years to come. A handsome old dog that will be lovingly missed forever by not only us but by many people who knew Ashley.
With love,
Amanda Washington
