Colleen Crow Obituary

Colleen Crow, 81, of Halfway, Oregon passed away Sunday, September 30, 2018 at her Son's home in Halfway.  A Celebration of her Life - Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2018 ~ 11:00 a.m. at the Pine Valley Presbyterian Church in Halfway, Oregon.  

Colleen was born in Spokane, Washington on Augut 21, 1937 to parents Ralph and Vera (Jay) Anderson.  She was raised in Ione, Washington, graduating high school in 1954 at the age of 16. Colleen went on to attend Eastern Oregon College.

She met Marion Crow at the Stockmen's Bar & Cafe in Halfway, Oregon. They married on January 24, 1959 in Weiser, Idaho and honeymooned at sheep camp in Baker, Oregon. They lived in Halfway, Imbler, La Grande and back to Halfway in 1979 to stay.

Colleen was always a very hard worker. She worked at the nursing home at Hot Lake in La Grande and spent many years working as a waitress or cook in local restaurants. She had an entrepreneurial spirit that inspired her to have her own craft store in Union, Oregon and own her own restaurant “The Pioneer Café” in Halfway, Oregon. Colleen  was also  a camp host for Fish Lake Campground and Yellowstone National Park.

Colleen enjoyed picnics in the mountains and on the river, especially on Easter (no matter the weather). Colleen loved to read mystery novels, baking, painting, canning, sewing and crocheting, camping, fishing and taking care of family. She loved having her family around and especially enjoyed the visits from the grandkids and great grandkids. Colleen was also a preschool teacher and a foster parent and she always put others before herself.

She was preceded in death by her husband Marion; brothers Larry and Teddy Blair; grandson Terry Wayne Sitkoff  Jr.; son -in-law Norman Letchworth and nephew Travis Crow.

Colleen is survived by her sons Terry and wife Noel Sitkoff of Halfway, Rick and wife Renee of Prosser, Washington; daughter Michelle Letchworth of Halfway; numerous Grandchildren; Great Grandchildren; great great granddaughter Hope; sister Kathy and husband Harold Rosenthal of Pahrump, Nevada and many nieces and nephews.
