Burleigh Allen Obituary

Burleigh Ronald Allen, 71, of Sparta, died Friday, September 14, 2018 at his ranch in Sparta, Oregon. A Traditional Funeral Service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Baker City, Oregon on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Friends are invited to join the family for a reception to be held immediately following at the church. Following the reception,  at 3 p.m a Graveside Dedication of the grave & Military Honors will be held at the Eagle Valley Cemetery in Richland, Oregon

Burleigh was born on October 29, 1946 in Blackfoot, ID to George and Sylvia Allen.After graduating from Blackfoot High School in 1964, he spent 4 years in the United States Army Security Agency. In 2001, he retired from Lucent Technologies after 33 years of service, which took he and his family across the world to many different locations.

As High Priest in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he loved working in the family history center.

Burleigh is survived by his beautiful wife Peggy Allen of 37 years, 7 children, 11 Grandchildren, 1 Great Grandson; brother Neil Allen;  sisters Janet Willardson and Sandy Braun; numerous nieces and nephews.

Burleigh Ronald Allen was a loving husband, father, neighbor and true friend. He loved his family, golf, Pinochle, hunting and fishing. He was known to bring in quite a haul when he wasn’t clearing snags or re-hooking lines for the Grandkids. A devoted family man, he cherished the moments he had with his grandchildren. One of his favorite past times was spending time with his family and playing cards. Burleigh will forever go down as the undisputed family Uno champion. His memory will forever be captured in the hearts of his family and community that will miss him dearly.
