Angus was about 10 1/2 years old. I am not sure since I rescued him from the Bend Humane Society in the summer of 2016. He was a large (88#) “English Cream” Golden Retriever with an extra helping of the “happy” that all Goldens are noted for. He knew no strangers and loved to greet new dog friends as well as people. Despite his size and age, few dogs could beat him to a Chuck-It thrown ball. He especially loved to swim and a ball thrown into the Deschutes River caused him to sail off the bank like a Dock Dog (which he may have been!). Unfortunately, Golden Retrievers are also noted for getting cancer and that is what happened to Angus. He was still happy and energetic up until two weeks before he died, so he did not have to suffer too long. I can’t imagine dumping such a beautiful dog but it was my privilege to provide a happy home for his last year and a half.
