Steve Boles

May 22, 2017

Steven Russell Boles passed away suddenly, May 22, 2017 in Baker City at the age of 66.  There will be no funeral service at Steve's request.

Steve was born December 7, 1950 in Baker City, to William and Verla Boles. He attended South Baker Elementary, graduating from Baker Senior High in 1969. He attended both Eastern Oregon State College and Boise State. Steve completed his basic training in Fort Ord, CA and then served in the Oregon State National Guard.

He was active business man who was involved in several companies throughout his career. Although his main field focused on his 30 years in the insurance and underwriting business.

Steve truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures. Talking with family and friends, spending time with his son Luke and grandson Taygen. Steve had an ability to reach people in both a deep and positive way.

Eastern Oregon and the time spent with family and friends was his foundation of and memories. From the Elkhorn Mountains to the Eagle Caps in particular. He loved hunting and fishing the Minam and North Fork at the Clearwater, Malheur, Troy, John Day waters and streams. He also enjoyed gold panning, hunting meteorites and rock hounding.

Steve had both a rogue and rare, solid sense of humor. His humor would surface itself as an unstoppable, immovable force. For Steve, it was the ticket to his happiness and success. His smiles were contagious had a lingering effect on all who were present.

Steve believed one could do more through instinct than education. He knew of nothing more exciting than living long term in a short term body. And this was no small feat for someone suffering from A.L.S. - Lou Gehrig's Disease.

He had a strong belief of real world ethics not being the same as legal ethics. He said," All cases are won in the first three minutes."

Steve was a gifted speaker, motivator and salesman. He also loved to read, especially American history, autobiographies, and non-fiction. He could cultivate and tell the best stories from both his own experiences and knowledge.

There are many who will always love him for who was and how he touched their lives. His memory is a blessing to those who knew him.

Steve is survived by his son Luke Boles; mother Verla Boles; sister Lynette Allen and husband Billy; grandson Taygen Boles.
