Madge Bern Obituary

 

Madge Bern, 85, of Baker City, Oregon died Friday, April 6, at her home in Baker.  A Memorial Service will be held May 5, 2018~2pm at the Jehovah Witness Kingdom Hall in Baker City, Oregon.

Madge was born November 6, 1932 in Murphy, Idaho to parents Walker and Elvina Horton.  She grew up in and graduated High School in Idaho.

A date set up by her grandparents proved fateful, as she fell in love with her husband Robert “Bob” who worked for her grandpa.  They later married, February 28, 1951.

Madge lived many places including Anchorage Alaska, Bandon, Coos Bay, and Baker City, Oregon.  She worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant and at one time owned an adult foster home.

Madge love all kinds of flowers and gardening, which is probably one of the reasons why her favorite colors was green. She was a dedicated Jehovah’s Witness and was baptized with her husband Bob October, 20, 1966.

 Highlights in her life included when her grandbabies and when great grandsons Jeriah and Jesse were born.  Madge reveled being a grandma. She loved watching her great grandson Jesse grow and play. They were very close and loved reading, watching animal shows and just being with each other.

Madge was preceeded in death by her husband Bob Bern; son Robert Jean Bern Jr., great grandson Jeriah Nelson Lindley; sisters Ellen Crampton and LaVesta Swinger. 

Daughters Sandy and her husband Chang Robison, Celia and her husband Daniel Lindley and great grandson Jesse Jean Lindley all of Baker City, Oregon; daughter Sarah and Clyde Plunkett, their sons Javan and his wife Angela and two Great Granddaughters Arianna and Brianna and other son Jalem and his wife Amie and Great grandson Jonathon of Alaska, Granddaughter Rebecca Bern and husband Aaron Lee and great granddaughter Daja and great grandson Olen R Lee of Lewiston Idaho;  Furbabies Rowdie, Butch, and Joy and grandog Smokey.
