Joe Omann - A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2017 ~ 1:00 p.m. at Pine Haven Cemetery in Halfway, Oregon.  Friends are invited to join the family for a reception to be held immediately following the service at the Pine Valley Grange.

Dad, known by most as Joe Omann was born in Wisconsin in 1924. Around age four, he moved with his family to Grants Pass, OR where he grew into manhood. He served in the US Army and upon his discharge he returned to Oregon and married Miriam Moritz. They moved to Colorado where he attended watch making school. Following the completion of his schooling, they moved back to Oregon and never left again except for winters in Arizona in their later years. On their first trip to Halfway Joe remarked on the steep pitches of the roofs, "This is snow country!" They would not be living here! Sixty plus years later he followed through on that decision when they left Halfway to make their home in Richland, twelve miles away. During those "sixty-some years", they raised a family of seven children, made many friends, and became part of the community. Joe loved to make people laugh with his wry sense of humor. He especially liked puns; the more ridiculous the better. He also loved his music, playing solo and with others whenever an opportunity arose. He played the guitar, mandolin, and was an outstanding harmonica player. A skilled artisan, he was an avid silver smith, making jewelry, belt buckles, bolo ties, and more for family, friends, and for purchase. He repaired many ailing clocks and watches for people near and far requiring this skill.

His word was the best contract one could be given and while he was not perfect, he always did his best and lived his beliefs. Joe took his leave June 17, 2017.You are missed and loved dear husband, dad, father-in-law, brother, grandpa, uncle, friend.

For those who would like to make a memorial donation in memory of Joe, the family suggests either the Halfway Ambulance Service, Eagle Valley Ambulance Service or Jacob's Dream through Tami's Pine Valley Funeral Home & Cremation Services PO Box 543 Halfway, Oregon 97834.  On line condolences may be shared at www.tamispinevalleyfuneralhome.com
