Dorothy Melchior-Thompson Obituary

Dorothy Thompson, 60, of Nampa Idaho (Formerly of Halfway, Oregon) passed away Sunday, February 25th, 2018 at St Luke’s Hospital in Boise, Idaho surrounded by family after a long battle from multiple illnesses. A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00pm on May 1st, 2018 at the Richland Cemetery. Friends are invited to join the family for a potluck to follow at the Richland Grange Hall.

Dorothy Pauline Thompson was born on March 8th, 1957 in Denver, Colorado to Bertha (Peggy) Melchior and James Melchior. She graduated high school from Pine Eagle High School in Halfway, Oregon. Dorothy was married to Herman Thompson on May 1st, 1993; they were married for 25 years.

Dorothy was a very kind and compassionate woman, she was always there for anyone needing a helping hand. Her life evolved around that of her children and grandchildren. She was very active in providing support and encouragement in all their activities including but not limited to sports, FFA, 4-H, girl scouts, band and speech and debate. Dorothy was not only a mother to her children, but also to the children of the neighborhood. She could always be counted on to help babysit or just offer comforting words of advice or wisdom whenever needed. No one ever left her home without being made sure they had a full stomach and was plenty warm. Dorothy also loved to play bingo and could be found most every Friday evening at the VFW hall trying her luck.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents James Melchior and Bertha (Peggy) Melchior; son Gary Roy Thompson; brothers Gary and Jim Melchior.

She is survived by her husband Herman; her four daughters, Dara Melchior, Christy Crews, Megan Marquez, Shelbi Thompson and Ida Thompson; Sisters Sherry Downing and Pam Miller; multiple grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
